Saskatchewan Tourism Week 2017

Saskatchewan Tourism Week will takes place from May 28 to June 3, 2017. These dates coincide with Tourism Week in Canada. The week is an opportune time for tourism businesses, operators, attractions and destinations across the country to promote awareness about a dynamic industry that annually contributes more than $90 billion to the Canadian economy. The tourism industry engages people in every community, large or small, throughout our province. Tourism encourages community pride and development and showcases Saskatchewan’s remarkable assets – its rich history, diverse culture, one-of-a-kind hospitality, and so much more – to the rest of Canada and to the world.

Travel expenditures in Saskatchewan reached $2.15 billion in 2015, and there were approximately 12.2 million visits to and within the province that year. As of August 2016, nearly 65,000 Saskatchewan citizens were employed in tourism and tourism-related businesses.

Communities throughout Saskatchewan mark the occasion with events and festivities that encourage residents to discover some of the tourism resources in their own backyard and explore unique destinations and sites elsewhere in the province.
