Questioning the Minister at the Heritage Committee – Canadian Hockey League

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March, sports leagues big and small have struggled greatly. While major leagues like the NHL, NBA, MLB and NFL have been able to resume play, smaller leagues like the Canadian Hockey League are facing steeper hurdles, namely the lack of fans in the stands. Hockey is our national pastime. Many teams across the CHL, like the Prince Albert Raiders and Swift Current Broncos are community-owned and incredibly important to their communities. Not only that, the CHL is a crucial part of the Canadian hockey ecosystem and developing the next generation of Canadian athletes.

At the House of Commons Heritage Committee meeting on Thursday, November 5th, I asked the Heritage Minister about what measures have been put in place to support the CHL and whether or not he is considering further measures to assist them.
